Terms of use and disclaimer

These terms cover satellite.md: the website, the SATELLITE.md skill file, the API at /api/v1 and the MCP server at /mcp (together, “satellite.md”). By using satellite.md you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use it.

In short: use it at your own risk. Information here may be inaccurate or not current and isn’t verified, figures are estimates, nothing here is engineering or licensing or any other advice, satellite.md never fetches imagery or positions, tracks people or vehicles, contacts or operates satellites, transmits, or buys anything, and you are responsible for what your agents do.

1.Use at your own risk

satellite.md is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, availability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. You use it at your own risk.

2.Information may be wrong or out of date

satellite.md shows no third-party data: no prices, coverage maps, orbital elements, satellite positions, pass times, weather or provider data, and it fetches nothing from other sites, including the SATELLITE.md files and links you send. Every number a tool uses comes from your request or from a generic formula the tool states. Those formulas are simplifications. They can be wrong for your case, and the skill and this site can be inaccurate, incomplete or not current.

Check every figure yourself, with the people and sources you rely on, before you act on it.

3.Not advice

Nothing here is engineering, spectrum licensing, export control, legal or financial advice. Nothing on satellite.md is a recommendation or endorsement of any provider, product or service. The SATELLITE.md skill is guidance for software agents and doesn’t guarantee any outcome.

The tools calculate, compare and check what you send against rules you choose. They don’t approve, enforce, certify or verify anything, including anyone’s identity, they can miss problems, and a clean result isn’t an approval or an assurance. Nothing on satellite.md makes anything compliant with a law, regulation or standard, legally valid, or safe.

Results are estimates from the numbers you send and simple formulas we state, such as a spherical Earth, circular orbits and free-space loss. They are not current, not measured and not guaranteed, and they may be wrong. Real links, orbits, weather and batteries differ.

You are responsible for licences, type approvals, notices and consents where you operate, for export-control and sanctions checks, and for following imagery licences.

4.Provider files and no endorsement

SATELLITE.md files are written and hosted by their publishers. We don’t review them, and we keep no directory, list or ranking of providers. Coverage, speed, latency, price, licence and authorization statements in a file are the publisher’s own. A file that passes our checker has only passed a format check; it isn’t verified, approved or endorsed.

We don’t sell, broker, rank, approve, certify or endorse any satellite service, image, terminal or device, and we have no relationship with any provider. Anything you buy is between you and the provider, under its terms. If you publish a SATELLITE.md, you are responsible for what it says and for keeping it current.

5.Not for safety of life

Don’t use satellite.md, its tools or any SATELLITE.md file for distress alerting, search and rescue, aviation, maritime safety or emergency services. In an emergency, contact local emergency services or use a certified distress beacon.

6.You’re responsible for your agents

satellite.md never fetches imagery or positions, tracks people or vehicles, contacts or operates satellites, transmits, or buys anything. Anything your agents do runs on your own accounts, under the terms of the services you use, at your cost. You are responsible for the settings you choose, for approvals, for your credentials and for following every service’s terms and the law. Settings an agent drafted are yours only once you agree to them.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the operators and contributors of satellite.md from claims, losses and costs arising from your use of satellite.md, from what your agents do, and from any SATELLITE.md file you publish.

7.Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators and contributors of satellite.md are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of money, data, profits or business, arising from your use of, or inability to use, satellite.md or any information from it, even if told such loss was possible. Where liability can’t be excluded, our total liability is limited to US$100.

8.Sources and trademarks

The skill and the tools use generic terms and public, generic formulas. Names of standards, units and file formats are used only to describe them.

Where code on satellite.md (for example, an install command or a configuration file name) mentions a tool, client or service so that it works with it, that name is a trademark of its owner, used only for compatibility. satellite.md is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any of them. If you own a mark and want us to change how we use it, write to us and we’ll act promptly.

9.Acceptable use

You may not use satellite.md to track, locate, identify or watch people, homes or vehicles without their knowledge, consent or a legal basis. You may not use it to interfere with, jam, spoof or intercept signals, to access or command satellites, ground stations or devices you don’t run, or to get around export, sanctions, spectrum, terminal licensing or imagery-licence rules. The tools refuse inputs named for orbital elements, satellite names, pass or imaging times, addresses, coordinate lists, secrets and interference, and any input a tool doesn’t take.

Don’t overload, attack or try to disrupt satellite.md, and don’t use it to break the law or anyone else’s terms. We may rate-limit, block, change or stop any part of satellite.md at any time, without notice.

10.Privacy

satellite.md has no accounts, sets no cookies and asks for no personal information. To learn what’s useful, we count page views, copies, skill fetches and API and MCP calls with anonymous server-side events. We store no IP addresses: a one-way daily hash of the IP address and browser string counts unique visitors, and the country comes from our host’s request headers. Counting runs only on the live site, and visiting with ?internal=1 turns it off in that browser.

Settings and anything you send to a tool are used only to answer that request. satellite.md doesn’t store them and doesn’t send their values to analytics: only the tool name, a known preset name and how many settings were given. Our host keeps standard server logs, such as time and IP address, for a short time. Don’t send personal data, the location of a private home, passwords or keys.

11.License

The SATELLITE.md skill, the SATELLITE.md format and this site’s code are under the MIT License. Anything owned by third parties is not covered by that license.

12.Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version, and continued use means you accept it.

We may change or remove any tool, setting, rule or part of the SATELLITE.md format at any time. The format’s version number changes when a change could break existing files.
